Ukraine, Russia Agree to Use Ukrainian Infrastructure in Global Navigation Satellite System

glonassUkraine and Russia have agreed to use the Ukrainian land infrastructure in the Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS).

The National Space Agency of Ukraine and the Federal Space Agency of Russia signed the agreement in presence of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Kyiv Monday.

This agreement will accelerate the introduction of modern technologies in the Ukrainian national economy with the use of navigation satellite systems created and adapted with the participation of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Russia and Ukraine in November 2009 announced their intention to prepare an intergovernmental agreement on the creation of a single navigation-time space of Russian and Ukraine on the base of GLONASS and other navigation satellite systems.
