NCRC Expecting Tender For Assignation Of 3G Licenses In May-JuneThe National Communications Regulation Commission expects tenders for reception of licenses for 3G mobile communication UMTS in May-June, chairman of the commission Volodymyr Oliinyk told the Business magazine.
He said that there are some discrepancies as for conversion of frequencies, and expressed hope that the Defense Ministry would eliminate the defects by the end of winter.
Oliinyk also said that in the future, frequencies that will be allocated for 3G are likely to be used for 4G.
He added that the introduction of 4G will be coordinated with European institutions.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the national communications regulation commission admitted announcement of a tender for 3G before February.

NCRC Estimates Nominal Value Of Radio-Frequency Bands For 3GThe National Commission for Regulating Communications (NCRC) estimates the nominal value of frequency bands allocated for a tender for licenses for UMTS (3G) mobile communications at approximately UAH 890 million.
Volodymyr Smoliar, a member of the Communications Commission, announced this to the press.
"As for the nominal value of the whole band to be put up for sale, it will be approximately UAH 890 million. All in all 100 MHz," he said.
He noted that the practical price of the band will depend on a number of factors, including the number of participants.
According to him, the NCRC has yet to define the terms of the tender and the number of lots.
Smoliar confirmed that the announcement of the tender can be in January 2011.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the NCRC expects an announcement of the tender for 3G licenses before February 2011.

NCRC Expects Announcement On Tender For 3G Licenses Before February 2011The National Commission for Regulating Communications (NCRC) expects a tender for selling licenses for UMTS (3G) mobile communications to be announced before February 2011.
Volodymyr Smoliar, a member of the commission, said this during a roundtable.
"[The commission expects] the start of the tender in the second half of January 2011," he said.
He said the National Commission for Regulating Communications was adjusting with the Defense Ministry a plan of conversion of radio frequencies for UMTS (3G) mobile communications. The Defense Ministry is likely to endorse a final option of the plan by the end of 2010, he said.
According to Volodymyr Smoliar, the draft plan of conversion of radio frequencies fixes the cost of the conversion at UAH 848 million. The time for the conversion is 8 months, according to the draft plan.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the NCRC used to expect a tender for selling licenses for UMTS (3G) mobile communications before 2011.
