Kyivstar And Beeline Introduce Tariff ‘Communicate Without Borders’

The Kyivstar telecom operator and the Beeline communications operator (Ukrainian RadioSystems and Golden Telecom companies) on February 16 introduced a tariff plan named Communicate Without Borders for both networks' contract and prepaid service subscribers. Under the tariff plan both networks' subscribers to prepaid services get 3000 package minutes of calls to Kyivstar and Beeline numbers and 300 minutes of calls to numbers of other operators. Apart from this, Kyivstar contract subscribers receive 3500 minutes of calls within the Kyivstar and Beeline network and 350 minutes of calls to numbers of other operators. Monthly subscriber fees for both forms of service make UAH 120. No connection fee is charged. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Kyivstar on November 22, 2010 opened the national roaming for the subscribers of Beeline. Kyivstar and Beeline communications operators plan to close the merger deal by 2014. The companies will be merged in several stages: at the first one Kyivstar will open national roaming for Beeline subscribers to enable them communicate under the Beeline tariffs within the united network.

Revenues Of Operators From Long Distance Telephone Communications 7.9% Down To UAH 272.6 Million In January

In January 2011, revenues of operators providing long distance telephone communications fell by 7.9% compared to December, from UAH 295.988 million to UAH 272.558 million, the State Statistics Service has informed. The share of revenues of operators providing long distance telephone communications made up 6.9% of the revenues of the telecommunications branch. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in December revenues of operators providing long distance telephone communications fell by 11.7% compared to November, from UAH 335.165 million to UAH 295.988 million. In 2010, revenues of operators providing long distance telephone communications made up UAH 3,972.153 million. The Ukrtelecom company controls the biggest part of the market for long distance telephone communications.

Communications Commission Intending To Regulate Allocation Of Short Codes To Operators

The National Commission for Regulating Communications is intending to regulate the question of allocation of short codes to operators. Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the National Commission for Regulating Communications. "To date none of the operators has received a license for using short codes," said Volodymyr Paschuk, a member of the Communications Commission. The Communications Commission has obliged communication operators to analyze the use of short codes before February 1 and to provide information to the Commission. According to him, the Communications Commission expects operators to submit applications and sets of documents before March 1 for allocation of the short codes. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in December 2010 introduced fees for allocation of short codes to communication operators.
