Nokia Siemens Networks and SITRONICS Information Technologies have launched from July 1 a unified plan of short numbering for Ukrainian Mobile Communications, a mobile telephone operator that uses the MTS brand.
This solution is the first stage of the Fixed Mobile Convergence project of MTS.
Another task of the first stage of the project was integration of a solution for corporate clients of fixed-line and mobile networks.
The solution is based on an intellectual service platform allowing provision of different convergent services to clients of fixed-line and mobile networks on the ground of any available wire and wireless technologies.
The services can be available to clients of both traditional networks — fixed telephony and GSM — and networks of new generation based on package technologies — 3G, VoIP, LTE, and others.
The following stages of the project stipulates for launch of such services as routing of calls to different numbers of subscribers on different terms; parallel and successive calls to different numbers of subscriber.
The project also stipulates for launching the transfer of a call during a talk to any other number — fixed-line or mobile — and a conference call.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in December 2009 Ukrainian Mobile Communications, a mobile telephone operator that uses the MTS brand, and Nokia Siemens Networks B.V. (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) started building a convergent VPN virtual corporate network with single package of telephony and data transfer services.
Ukrainian Mobile Communications finished 2009 with a net profit of UAH 640.3 million. The company’s net revenues fell by 4.9% or by UAH 421.5 million in 2009 over 2008, to UAH 8,172.7 million.
Mobile Telesystems (MTS) of Russia owns 100% of the shares in Ukrainian Mobile Communications.
Nokia Siemens Networks makes telecom equipment for mobile and fixed-line communications.
