The National Commission for Regulating Communications (NCRC) wants amendments to the legislation to introduce a system for charging communications operators for use of numbers allocated to the operators.
Volodymyr Paschuk, a member of the National Commission for Regulating Communications, announced this during presentation of a report on the work of the commission in 2009,
According to him, this novelty requires amendments to the legislation, as the effective law on telecommunications envisages payments only for allocation of numbers to operators.
Paschuk said the National Commission for Regulating Communications has established a workgroup on the matter and the workgroup will prepare a draft law. However, Paschuk did not say when this draft law could be registered with the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, the National Commission for Regulating Communications considers introduction of an integrated payment. In other words telecommunications operators will have to pay part of funds for allocation of numbers and part of funds for the use of numbers.
