The National Communications Regulation Commission (NCRC) is seeking to prohibit communications operators from setting connection fees.
This is stated in a draft Cabinet of Ministers resolution on the Rules for Providing and Receiving Telecommunications Services that the commission approved at a meeting on October 28.
“When conducting settlements with operators, providers do not have the right to establish tariffs for technological operations involving to …. Establishment of connection with another subscriber,” the draft document states.
In addition, the draft document requires operators to provide information directly to consumers when changing tariffs for services.
The draft document has been sent to all the interested executive government agencies for approval.
The current Rules for Providing and Receiving Telecommunications Services were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 720 of August 9, 2005.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the National Communications Regulation Commission is a central agency of the executive branch of government. The commission regulates the telecommunications and postal industries and distributes radio frequencies and telephone numbers.
