NCRC is considering the possibility to use a 900 MHz range for UMTS

The National Communications Regulatory Commission (NCRC) is considering opening up 900 and 1800 MHz range for UMTS (3G).

At a meeting on January 26 NCRC has considered ways to solve these problems in European countries and discussed regulation of the improvement of IMT-2000 radio technology (UMTS) in frequency bands allocated for radio technologies GSM900/1800.

Prior to March 1, 2010 operators must submit their findings on the prospects of deploying 3G in the old bands. NCRC and the State Connection Administration connection must initiate the necessary changes in the plan to use radio frequencies. In addition, “Ukrchastotnadzor” explore the possibilities on the final conversion in the range of 900 MHz.
