The National Commission for Regulating Communications (NCRC) expects a tender for selling licenses for UMTS (3G) mobile communications to be announced before February 2011.
Volodymyr Smoliar, a member of the commission, said this during a roundtable.
“[The commission expects] the start of the tender in the second half of January 2011,” he said.
He said the National Commission for Regulating Communications was adjusting with the Defense Ministry a plan of conversion of radio frequencies for UMTS (3G) mobile communications. The Defense Ministry is likely to endorse a final option of the plan by the end of 2010, he said.
According to Volodymyr Smoliar, the draft plan of conversion of radio frequencies fixes the cost of the conversion at UAH 848 million. The time for the conversion is 8 months, according to the draft plan.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the NCRC used to expect a tender for selling licenses for UMTS (3G) mobile communications before 2011.
