MTS Ukraine Wants Authorities to Include LTE 4G Technologies in Plan on Use of Radio Frequencies

LTE_logoThe MTS Ukraine mobile communications operator wants the Ukrainian authorities to include in the plan on the use of radio frequencies the technologies of fourth generation (4G) of LTE standard (Long Term Evolution).

Oleh Prozhyvalskyi, director for corporate management and control, announced this at a roundtable.

He has applied to the National Commission for Regulating Communications and the State Communication Administration with this initiative.

Olena Dobhalenko, first deputy head of the State Communication Administration, supported the initiative and proposed to create a working group to tackle the question.

The plan on the use of radio frequencies and amendments to it are endorsed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, MTS planed to launch the testing of the LTE network in the second half of 2010.

MTS Ukraine does not consider expedient to begin introduction of UMTS (3G) mobile communication technology after 2010.
