MTS Ukraine to build national Wi-Fi network

MTS Ukraine, a Ukrainian mobile operator owned by Mobile Telesystems, is taking to building a nationwide MTS Wi-Fi network. Pyxus-2006 was picked up in an open tender as a contractor for this project.
MTS said that this network would broaden the area of its Wi-Fi services and allow for more flexible subscription rates for broadband Internet users.
MTS Ukraine received the national license to provide Wi-Fi-enabled wireless broadband access in June 2008. This license allows the company to use radio frequencies in the range of 2.4 GHz inside the buildings in all regions of Ukraine for five years.
