The Kyivstar telecom operator may open national roaming for the subscribers of Beeline (Ukrainian RadioSystems and Golden Telecom companies) before the end of November, Ukrainian News has learned from the company leading public relations specialist Serhii Tovstenko-Zabelin.
“I suppose this [will be] say late November. The exact date is not known yet,” he said.
Tovstenko-Zabelin says the exact day of opening national roaming is hard to be named because, in his words, interconnection of the networks with different technological settings is quite a difficult technological process, and it is not easy to forecast the time period it may take.
The companies will be merged in several stages: at the first one Kyivstar will open national roaming for Beeline subscribers to enable them communicate under the Beeline tariffs within the united network.
On October 5, 2009, Altimo (Russia) and Telenor (Norway) agreed to merge Kyivstar and VimpelCom to create a new cellular communications operator, VimpelCom Ltd. (Bermuda islands), to provide integrated cellular communications services in Russia, Ukraine, and other member-countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as in Georgia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
