The Kyivstar telecommunication operator intends to trim the cost of outgoing roaming calls in seven countries by 54% or by UAH 18.9/minute to UAH 16.1/minute from 1 February 2011.
“The Company [Kyivstar] has officially informed AMCU about a decision to cut by 54% the rate of outgoing calls in roaming in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan,” reads the statement.
At the same time, the cost of incoming calls in the roaming in the said countries will be trimmed by 40% ort by UAH 10 to UAH 15/minute.
The press service of Kyivstar told Ukrainian News that the company held negotiations in the fall of 2010 and sent out letters to foreign roaming partners of the company with a request to lower the cost of services on international roaming.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine in July 2010 launched investigation into a case on roaming tariffs of mobile operators and recommended the operators to trim the rates to economically founded ones.
