The Odesa-based Intertelecom company, an operator of fixed-line telephone in the CDMA standard, has reached agreement with Alcatel-Lucent, a Franco-American supplier of telecommunications equipment, on modernization of its network.
Intertelecom announced this in a statement.
In particular, Alcatel-Lucent intends to install the third-generation CDMA technology (Multi Carrier EV-DO Rev.B) on Intertelecom’s network (Intertelecom presently uses the EV-DO Rev.А technology).
Alcatel-Lucent plans to complete installation and testing of the new technology by December.
The commercial launch is planned for the first quarter of 2011.
The launch of the third generation of this technology will facilitate transfer of data to subscribers at speeds of up to 14.7 Mbits/s (EV-DO Rev.А facilitates transfer speeds of up to 3.1 Mbits/s).
EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) is a data transfer technology that is used in cellular communications networks of the CDMA standard.
