Foreigners in Ukraine can use mobile phones without registration during three months

The Ukrainian State Center For Radio Frequencies (Ukrchastotnahliad) reminds foreigners about registering their mobile phones in the IMEI-code database if they use services of Ukrainian mobile operators.

A subscriber can use his/her mobile phone within three months having received an SMS from the operator saying that his/her phone is on the “grey” list and the service will be cancelled in three months.

To register an IMEI-code, a subscriber has to file an application for registration in the single IMEI code database together with a copy of the first page of his/her passport and a note about crossing the Ukrainian boundary.

The regulation does not concern roaming-users. They may use their cell phone in Ukraine without limits in time.
As Ukrainian News reported, the National Communications Regulatory Commission binds mobile communications operators from January 2, 2010 to start sending notification SMSes to subscribers whose phones are on the ‘grey’ lists of IMEI-codes database.

Ukrchastotnahliad launched an information mobile phone IMEI-code registration system in April 2009.
